Got Questions? We've Got Answers

PAL I is a Scrum.org certification that validates your understanding of Agile leadership principles and how leaders create the conditions for teams and organisations to thrive in an Agile environment. Rather than teaching a framework role like Scrum Master or Product Owner, PAL I focuses on leadership behaviours, organisational agility, team empowerment, and how leaders enable better business outcomes through Agile ways of working. Tezzonix Academy's PAL I programme is built around eight core learning areas, from the Scrum framework and Agile leadership fundamentals through to measuring the impact of agility.

PAL I is designed for executives and senior leaders, project managers, product owners, Agile coaches, Agile leaders, transformation leaders, delivery managers, Scrum Masters, and anyone leading Agile teams or initiatives. Unlike PSM I or PSPO I, it isn't written for one specific Scrum accountability — it's for the people around and above the team who influence whether agility actually takes hold in an organisation.

No. There's no prerequisite certification required to sit the PAL I assessment — you don't need to hold PSM I, PSPO I, or any other Scrum.org credential first. While attending a Professional Agile Leadership Essentials (PAL-E) class isn't mandatory, Scrum.org and Tezzonix Academy both recommend structured preparation, since the assessment tests applied leadership judgement rather than simple recall.

PAL I is issued directly by Scrum.org, the organisation founded by Ken Schwaber, cocreator of Scrum. Scrum.org certifications are earned strictly by passing a knowledge assessment — there's no mandatory attendance requirement and no renewal fee ever, which is a deliberate difference from bodies like Scrum Alliance, whose certifications typically require renewal every two years with continuing education credits.

PSM I certifies your understanding of the Scrum framework from the Scrum Master's seat — facilitating events, coaching the team, protecting the process. PAL I certifies a different vantage point entirely: the leader's seat. It's for the managers, executives and transformation leaders who don't run the Scrum events themselves but who shape the organisational conditions — culture, structure, incentives — that determine whether Agile teams can actually succeed. Many Scrum Masters pursue both, since understanding how leadership above the team thinks makes it easier to work with them.

No. Like all Scrum.org Professional Scrum certifications, PAL I is yours for life once you pass the assessment — there's no renewal fee, no continuing-education requirement, and no expiry date. This is a deliberate difference from certification bodies like Scrum Alliance, whose credentials typically expire on a two-year renewal cycle.

Traditional management tends to centre on directing work, assigning tasks, and monitoring output through hierarchy. Agile leadership centres on creating the conditions for self-managing teams to succeed — setting clear goals, removing organisational impediments, modelling the values you want the team to adopt, and trusting the team with how the work gets done. PAL I spends real weight on this shift because it's the single hardest and most commonly misunderstood transition for managers moving into Agile organisations.

The PAL I programme is delivered online with a flexible schedule, so you can join from anywhere. Tezzonix Academy trains professionals internationally, with hubs in Kerala, India and Bergamo, Italy.

Sessions are led by experienced Agile and Scrum trainers with hands-on leadership and transformation backgrounds, not just syllabus familiarity. That matters for PAL I specifically, since the exam tests how you'd actually handle organisational and team leadership scenarios — judgement that's best taught by people who've navigated those situations themselves.

If you're coming from a traditional management background with limited hands-on Agile exposure, the higher tiers are worth the extra investment — PAL I's scenario-based, multiple-answer question style rewards practice under timed conditions far more than passive reading does. If you already work closely with Agile teams day-to-day, the Theory Oriented tier may be enough to fill in the conceptual gaps.

PAL I is most directly relevant to executives, senior leaders, delivery managers, transformation leaders, and department or functional managers responsible for Agile teams. It also strengthens the profile of Project Managers, Product Owners, Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters who want to understand and influence the organisational layer above the team, not just the team-level practice of Scrum.

Yes. Scrum.org is one of the most widely recognised Agile and Scrum certification bodies globally, and PAL I is administered and verified directly by Scrum.org rather than through a regional partner — so a PAL I credential earned through Tezzonix Academy in India carries exactly the same international standing as one earned anywhere else in the world.

Yes. Once you pass the official PAL I assessment through Scrum.org, you'll hold the industry-recognised PAL I certification and logo issued directly by Scrum.org. Alongside that, Tezzonix Academy issues a certificate of training completion, useful for showing your structured preparation to an employer or for internal records.
